A landscape design is a plan for the yard before anything goes in the ground: where the beds, paths and lawn go, which plants suit each spot, and where the water goes after a hard rain.
Upland soils around Memphis are loess, a fine wind-blown silt. Some of it drains well; some, like Loring silt loam, has a dense layer a foot or two down that keeps yards soggy after rain. A plan here needs somewhere for runoff to go, and new beds usually need compost worked in. Many Germantown and Collierville neighborhoods have HOA rules, so check yours before the plan is final.
It depends on the size of the yard and what the plan includes. The estimate is free, and the quote comes in writing after a walk-through.
A plan makes that easier: the front can go in one season and the back the next, without redoing anything.
Licensed landscape architects usually handle engineered or commercial sites. Most home yards do not need one.
Often the soil. Some local silt loams have a dense layer below the surface that holds water, so drainage has to be part of the plan.
Free, with no obligation. Darren Fant walks the site, measures, looks at drainage and access, and gives a written quote. Every quote is written after seeing the yard, because access and grading differ house to house.
A written number after the walk-through - no sales pitch.
Tell us about your yard and Darren will call to set up the visit.
